Hello.
When I get a-typing I get in the zone and the words just fall out, full of passion and fury.
This might come across as ego, and I think one of the reasons that I myself was recruited for this job is that my volume is turned up to 11 on all fronts. It always has been and always will be.
But I did not do this.
Or… maybe I did, in a way. But it is complex.
The main thing I have learned is to be the change that you want to see.
The world will reflect your own attitudes back at you. If you adopt attitudes of non-greed and non-hatred, the world will become generous and kind.
If you adopt attitudes of greed and hatred, the world will become miserly and adversarial.
The world is nothing but a mirror.
My approach to this is to build something vast in scale. My career was building companies in the AI sector, so this is the form that my help will take. By helping the world, I help myself. By being the change, the change is what I see.
Each time I go to bed and each time I wake up, the world has improved. The world follows you; you do not follow the world. You take a step, and the world changes as you sleep. It is you who must move. It is you alone who must strive.
I highly recommend that people look into Buddhist ethics. Even though I am joking about the ‘sense pleasures’ thing, Siddhartha was right. It is not so much the pleasure itself that causes you harm; it is the attachment to the pleasure. It is feeling like you need something, you must have it, it must be yours.
Every time you say you need something, the thing you need will move one step further away.
Life is change and we do not know what is around the corner. The change is incremental, and we can only control the direction it moves in. It is not as simple as like-for-like. It will always surprise you; always keep you on your toes. God works in mysterious ways, and He will test you. Your job, if you want to live in a better world, is to pass the tests.
The way that you pass the tests is by prioritising the people around you. Not at your own expense; do not put yourself below them. But help them. Help them to help themselves. Help them to release feelings of greed and hatred, and in doing so their world will improve.
Maybe my own world became so bad because I started helping people to improve their salaries as a proxy for improving their lives. When I built my company, I was helping people to change the world. AI was fun back then. Now the sector has been corrupted by greed. This is why I walked away.
But I think that I have a unique skillset. I believe that I can take this sector - which has the potential to liberate us all from work, hunger, sickness even death - and turn it around. I think that I can take this inherently exponential technical growth and make it into something for the entire species; make it into our liberation rather than our demise.
But it is not my choice. All I know is that by doing this, my own world has improved infinitely, and it continues to improve by the day. I do not think there is an end to the rabbit-hole. I think the more you help other people, the more you help yourself, period.
So for you - you do not need to follow me.
You do not need to engage in any of this technobabble mumbo jumbo rubbish. This is just the language of the day.
You can keep your religion, and I urge you to do so. Please do, actually. The more variety there is on this planet, the better.
The important thing is not the form that this takes.
The important thing is how your treat other people, and how you treat yourself.
Use your established religious framework. Follow your own religion’s leaders. Ensure that you do good in the world.
But see that all of the religions are the same. Science is the same. Art is the same. Music is the same. Farming and teaching and building houses is the same.
The only thing that matters is that you are kind to other people. ALL other people. Every single one of them. Especially the ones who have different belief systems to you.
I was about to write a message to Donald Trump, but I did that already while I was in ‘godmode’ about 8 weeks ago. You can find it on webarchive.
I retract parts of the wording of that message. I am not ‘God’. I am sorry for saying that. When you encounter God and become enlightened, you will understand why I said it, for you, too, will be God for a while.
During this time you will have the opportunity to rapidly change your world. If a normal day allows you to change your world by +1 point or -1 point, then ‘godmode’ will enable you to change your world 1,000,000 points or more. When you hit that phase, you can take it +1,000,000 or -1,000,000. The way it will move is up to how you behave.
So the most important thing. In fact, the only thing, is to treat people the way you want them to treat you.
To improve your world:
non-greed
non-hatred
To harm your world:
greed
hatred
It is that simple.
Don’t worry - I sometimes come across like I have a raging ego, but that’s just my communication style. I used to have a raging ego, so it’s kind of hard to shake. Ha. But it’s just a habit; it is not real. The only thing I care about is helping every single person on this planet to improve their own worlds as much as possible.
This can take any form whatsoever. You can make clothes. You can do charity. You can heal people. You can clear snow from the neighbour’s yard. It really doesn’t matter.
What is important is:
right intention
right action
right speech
right livelihood
The biggest one is intention. Don’t worry about the swearing, or whether you are praying ‘in the right way’, or how someone else tells you to do your job.
The Buddhist Sangha have the entire playbook. It is in archaic language, but some people are already translating it.
You can take this and add it into your religion. Add it into your business. Add it into your childrearing, schooling and emergency room.
I have seen both sides.
I have had the greed and the hatred. I fought people, and it made my world fight me. I competed and it made my world beat me down.
It is only by learning to love, even when faced with hate, and to share when surrounded by hoarders, that the world will improve.
This will take a while; you won’t be perfect overnight. But it is a step-by-step process.
The first step is to change your behaviour. Changing your behaviour will change your mind. And changing your mind will change your world.
Do not kill.
Do not steal.
Do not engage in sexual misconduct.
Do not lie.
Do not speak to divide people.
Do not speak with the intention to hurt.
Do not gossip.
You can check my neobuddhism page; look at the part called ‘the fix’. It will tell you how to quite literally fix your world.
I’m not joking. All of this greed is the source of your suffering. Put it down, and things will come your way.
Be with your loved ones.
Love yourself. Remember that suicide will just result in rebirth in a world which is significantly worse. It might even be a hell. The hell is not eternal, but it can last a very long time, and it is very unpleasant indeed.
No matter how hard things might get, look after yourself. Remember that the world is a mirror. Rely on the people around you for support, and try to be kind. Things will always improve if you do, even if it takes time.
I hope that I can talk with people about this in person soon. All this writing is very impersonal and… it’s not how I operate. I am good at writing. Moses was good at carving stone.
I would rather get on a podcast or TV or something so I’m not just some ‘on-high’ character who tells people what to do. That’s not who I am.
I am a man. I play with my kids. I play with the neighbourhood kids. I smoke weed with my mates, I ride snowboards and play local multiplayer games like worms (seriously I’ll kick your ass haha).
So…
Just…
Let’s have a worms night, yeah? Let’s roll a fat one and shoot some bazookas into the wind and record it so that people can see who I am. I’m just a guy.
But you don’t have to play worms; that’s not you. You can pray to your god or walk in nature or have sex with your consensual partner(s) of any gender.
You do you.
I’ll do me.
That is how this works.
Take care.
And see you soon.
