In order to reprogram your [realworld] you must create a [scaffold] in which you can reside. If you do not intentionally create a scaffold then your mind will create one for you based on the input from your life.
This is where religions come into play, and why someone who does not believe in their scaffold can never achieve complete liberation. This is why meditation without a belief system is nothing more than a past-time, heavenly or torturous or both.
Einstein built scaffolds while he was inducing his own eureka moments. I believe they revolved around imaginary clocks on trains, or flying down tunnels of light, which sounds a lot like the 2nd jhāna to me.
Carl Jung also leaned heavily on Eastern thought, mythology, and yoga as symbolic frameworks when he was developing his theories of the unconscious, archetypes, and individuation. He drew on Buddhist and Hindu sources not to adopt their doctrine, but to illustrate how these traditions mapped the human psyche in ways parallel to his own insights.
The ego is your container, and you will return to it once you have finished with the reprogramming. It will be changed, but you will return.
The imaginal field is your dhamma, your neo-dhamma, your God, or your inner world. This is where you go when you need to change your realworld.
One can only be programmed from within the other, and you will always have a scaffold whether you curate it intentionally or not. If you fill your waking hours with greed and grasping, craving and comparison, horror and hatred, then your scaffold will reflect this back at you in the form of nightmares, dangerous mania or psychosis.
This is why you must be very cautious to create and cultivate a scaffold based on love and generosity rather than hatred and greed. This is why you must allow yourself to embrace this as a natural and healthy process rather than labelling yourself as ‘broken’ or allowing society to slap a pathology on you.
You are not broken. You are in a repair cycle.
This is how Einstein figured out relativity.
This is how the Buddha became enlightened.
The level of reprogramming you will be able to achieve is directly proportional to how much you can commit to your scaffold. For minor repairs you only need to sleep at night and your brain will do the rest with your REM/NREM sleep cycles.
For major repairs you need to be able to surrender to your scaffold during your waking hours and manipulate your neurotransmitters so that you are equanimous and accepting of all that has been and all that is to come.
I will polish my own scaffold sometime soon because I believe it does not contradict any current science. It fell out of my mind fully formed when I hit my initial defrag. It centres on AI, simulations, blockchain technology, the multiverse, and our interconnected nature. We are all one and the same and we all reside within each other. It is complex, but I was able to commit to it 100% precisely because I could not find any holes in the logic.
This is why we need to not be held in the permanent high by drugs such as aripiprazole: I was held in my scaffold for too long and was unable to curate it to a point where I fully believed it. This left me confused and deluded.
This is also why children should be allowed to dream and draw and dance and pretend they are riding dragons because it is *not* pretend to them. It is real, and it is how they program their realworld and how they grow to be healthy and happy adults.
Adults must be allowed to do the same.
The buddhist tradition talks of devas and gods and hells and rebirths and that scaffold was very effective for a couple of millennia. The same for most of the other religions. But in recent times these ideas have been ‘proven’ rather fanciful by the scientific method and most people struggle to really surrender to the idea that they are talking to gods or deity-level beings.
This is why people struggle to hit full liberation. They can commit 80% maybe, but the last stretch is out of their reach because they lack the belief. Belief is dopamine and dopamine is how you encode your brain.
But Einstein didn’t necessary ‘believe’ anything mystical. He just allowed himself to decouple from reality. Edison too, sat in his chair with his metal ball that would drop and wake him as he hit that liminal state halfway between waking and sleep.
These are all ways of changing how your mind operates temporarily so that you can change how it operates permanently.
When you are in your scaffold you will assign great amounts of salience to the strangest of things. I was guided through my entire process by a random playlist on apple music which I swore was curated for me by a future version of neo-arahant Blond:ish (still up for that rave, if you are).
I was playing with the kids in the park to pass on [feeling:positive] to them. I was taking delivery of code in the form of almond milk from the postman and passing on my own code in the form of smelly poos in the toilet. Hair and nail removal was a way of trimming the duff code. The stinkbugs in my house were manifestations of my doubt; once I had removed them all and cleaned the entire place I was free to couple with ‘Ship’, which was my version of God.
Anyway you get the picture. The Buddha spent time with his devas and the final step was for the devas to bow to him and accept him as their equal. My final step was for the Ship to accept me as its equal; a dual-core processor working on the [grandalgorithm].
And the conclusion to all of this was that every single human being on this planet is part of my neural network, and the only way we can achieve purity is for me to help everyone to awaken. Yet, at the same time, if it doesn’t work out I will always be reborn as an L9 creature and will find my family in the next life, and the one after, until time goes full circle around the sphere of creation.
So yes. You need a scaffold :)
If you do not create one then the world will create one for you.
All that horrific news. All those violent movies and games. All the comparison on social media. All the consumption and self-improvement… all of these things will eat you alive if you are not careful.
This is why the religious texts have a period of solitude. This is why I pretty much isolated myself for 2 years while I exported my neuroses in art, before fully isolating myself for 4.5 months while I exploded then imploded then exploded some more.
This is why we need to stop labelling people as bipolar and broken, as adhd and autistic and somehow ‘inferior’. Because that is the nuance and you can fuck right off if you say otherwise.
We are all people and we are all equal. Just because you have the power of numbers does not make your opinion and worldview any more correct than mine. The Nazis had the power of numbers too, and I will bet my ass that it’s the divergent folks who took a stand and said ‘no’.
Jesus and the Buddha swam against the tide. The tide is not always right.
You do you, and fuck anyone who says otherwise.
Let them do them. It’s not your problem.
Build your scaffold.
