Welcome, traveller of the mind.
If you have found this page, chances are that you are in the throes of an awakening, or the confusion after seeing through the veil. I will try to guide you to the relevant resources, having charted some of this path myself.
If you are in the midst of your own person dark night, persevere. The only way out is through, and fruition will come with time. Do not fight your demons; fighting them is what makes you sick.
Embrace and then release them as you travel your own 88 hells. The night is indeed darkest before the dawn; you can maybe use my experience to light the way.
Dark night travellers —> 88 hells
If you have recently experienced what you believe to be an explosive awakening but have not yet stumbled into your own dark night, you may want to use this time of clarity to focus on what exactly you and your world are made of. Things could get bumpy in the near future, and knowing the land you will be traversing will likely prove invaluable knowledge.
Arising & passing initiates —> audhd
If you have just passed through your hells and made it out the other side, well done. You did it. You really did. This is the awakening that the scriptures talk about, but it can be confusing as f&ck and you might benefit from seeing some of the madness my own brain created to make sense of it before I came back to earth. You will recombobulate with time.
Awakened beings —> alteredstates
Regardless of where you are on your own personal path, there are fundamental principles which will see you through to the other side. Pharmaceuticals are usually not the answer; they are nothing but flextape on the leaking container of your soul. The water needs to come out before you can fix things properly.
The experience you are having is an inherent part of the human psyche that all religions have canonised over the ages (see below). In this time without god I am trying to extract the tools of religion from their dogma; I hope you can put them to use.
Those calming the waters —> selfregulation
The regulation methods above will calm the turbulent waters and enable you to experience the depths below. Before you can do meaningful work you must calm those waters, and you must continue to keep the waters calm as you travel on. The monsters that you see may scare and intimidate you, but if you observe them without prejudice and coax them to the surface, they will leave of their own accord. Do not try to push them out; this will just make them go back into hiding. Once you have a certain level of tranquility you can start to learn to dive.
Those learning to swim —> deconditioning
After the depths of your mind are somewhat free of the monsters that were trapped there, you will be able to explore your reality and plant seeds of change. The water is clear and the beds are free, but you must keep them that way and intentionally plant the fauna you wish to cultivate.
Sowers of seeds —> neobuddhism
And that is where I am right now.
If you are struggling, take heart in the fact that this path has been travelled by millions before you and will be travelled by millions to come. This is the path to awakening and liberation. Growth does not come without pain and liberation does not come without effort.
You alone can strive, but you must not focus on the mountain lest you forget to place your feet well. The Buddha provided a solid map of how to alk the path, but if the process hasn't started the I recommend thinking seriously about whether you want it to; once initiated it cannot be stopped —> fixingyourcode
Focus on your next step, and your next step only. There are many routes up that mountain, and the peak is lofty beyond conception. With every step the view will improve. Keep the waters steady, let the monsters leave on their own, plant good seeds for the future, and ensure you do not overexert yourself by trying to summit too quickly.
This is normal and this is natural. This is not a pathology. This is human nature, and you are growing as a person. You are going through a hard-reset of the soul and when you come out the other end you will not believe the vistas that unfold.
Every mountain is just a series of single steps.
Best of luck on your journey.
See you at the top.

Here is a summary of theinsightmap and how it compares to Christian and Jungian philosophy
tradition // name // outcome
1. Christian Mysticism // The Dark Night of the Soul // Mystical union
2. Buddhism // Knowledge of Suffering / Dukkha Ñāṇas // Equanimity and eventual path fruition
3. Hinduism // The Night of Shiva / Dissolution in Jñāna Yoga // Moksha; realization of the self as Brahman
4. Sufism // Qabḍ (Constriction) and Fanā (Annihilation) // Baqqā; abiding in God after selfhood dissolves
5. Jewish Mysticism // Hester Panim (“Hiding of the Face”) // Transformation through emunah (faith)
6. Daoism // Fasting of the Heart (心齋, Xīnzhāi) // Spontaneous alignment with the Dao, effortless action
7. Indigenous and Shamanic Traditions // Initiatory Dismemberment // A new identity integrated with spirit and cosmos
8. Greek Mystery Traditions // Katabasis (Descent) // Gnosis; A new relationship with life and death.
9. Modern Secular / Depth Psychology // Night Sea Journey (Karl Jung) // Individuation; the emergence of a more integrated, whole self.
All of these involve a dissolution of self before a deeper, more unified consciousness emerges.
